SCREENSHOT GUIDES
How do you copy text from a screenshot on Mac?
Try Live Text in Preview, or extract text in SnipPop, edit the result, and copy it into another app.
Try the built-in option for a short passage
Open the screenshot in Preview, select recognized text, and copy it. Live Text availability varies by system, language, and region. If selection is unavailable, check the Text Selection option under Tools.
Extract and copy with SnipPop
Open the bubble with its pencil button, or drag a PNG or JPEG into the app. Click Extract Text and wait for the result. Edit it while checking the original, then click Copy All and paste into Notes, Mail, or another app.
Check the image when recognition is wrong
Small, blurred, tilted, or low-contrast text can be misread. Use a clear original and rotate it if needed before extracting again; zooming the view does not add image detail. Check numbers, email addresses, URLs, and line breaks. OCR does not guarantee accuracy, preserve table layout, or translate text.
Local recognition and online licensing
SnipPop recognizes image text on your Mac without uploading the image for OCR. License activation and device removal require internet access, so local processing does not mean the app never connects. How another app stores or syncs pasted text depends on its settings.
