Keep the whole page in one image.
Use the Chrome extension, or import a capture you already have.
Choose a capture method
Full-page capture is optional. Use your preferred capture tool and drag its PNG or JPEG into SnipPop, or use the SnipPop Chrome extension to send a full-page image straight to a bubble.
The extension requires the website edition of SnipPop running on the same Mac. It cannot save images on its own. The App Store edition does not provide this local connection.
Install the Chrome extension
- Launch SnipPop once.It prepares the extension files and local connection.
- Enter
chrome://extensionsin Chrome and turn on Developer mode. - Choose Load unpacked. In the folder picker, press ⇧⌘G, paste the path below, then open and select that folder:
~/Library/Application Support/ScreenshotFloat/ChromeExtension - Use Chrome’s Extensions menu to pin SnipPop to the toolbar.
Keep this folder in place. Do not load the extension from inside the app bundle. After moving or renaming the app, launch it again. After updating the extension, choose Reload on Chrome’s extensions page.
Capture a page and edit in SnipPop
- Keep SnipPop running. Open a regular web page and let its main content load.
- Click SnipPop in Chrome’s toolbar and wait for capture to finish. Do not refresh or navigate away during capture.
- The image appears in a bubble on your desktop. Click the pencil to crop, mark up, compress, or extract text.
An image received from the extension is not yet saved to disk. Save or export it if you want to keep it. Unpinned bubbles dismiss after five idle minutes. Pin the bubble, or turn off Dismiss After 5 Minutes Idle in Settings → General → Bubbles.
Use another capture tool
Save the page as a PNG or JPEG using your browser or another capture tool. Open SnipPop from the Mac menu bar, then drop in the image or choose it using the central import button. Edit it just like any other screenshot.
If it already appears in a bubble, click the pencil instead of importing it again.
Troubleshooting
- “Your file couldn’t be accessed”: Chrome may be using an old folder. Launch SnipPop, remove the old extension, and load it again from the folder above.
- Cannot connect to SnipPop: make sure the website edition is running. If you moved or renamed the app, launch it again before retrying.
- No bubble: check whether bubbles are hidden. The extension only reports success after the local app confirms receipt.
- Page cannot be captured: Chrome’s new-tab, settings, extensions, and other internal pages are unsupported. Use a regular web page.
- Missing content: scroll through the page to load lazy images first. For endless pages, capture sections and import each image separately. SnipPop does not stitch images.
Need the extension ZIP?
The app includes the extension, so a separate download is usually unnecessary. If you use the ZIP, unzip it, keep the ChromeExtension folder in a permanent location, and load that folder in Chrome. Do not select the ZIP file.

Image editing and text recognition run locally after import. Check other capture tools’ own documentation for how they handle your data.
